People's Republic
of Bangladesh is one of the few
countries in South Asia. Bangladesh
is bordered on the west, north, and
east by India, on the southeast by
Myanmar (formerly known as Burma),
and on the south by the Bay of
Bengal. The area of the country is
144,000 sq kms (56,000 sq miles).
The capital and largest city of
Bangladesh is Dhaka.
While having a long and rich
historical tradition, Bangladesh is
a remarkably young country, founded
in 1971 after a bloody liberation
